HISTORY (London, Martin Brian & O’Keeffe, 1982)

This is the first history of Trade Unionism in Trinidad and Tobago and an important study of colonial and neo-colonial labour history. It provides a timely and useful perspective on the local labour movement.

West Indian emigration is well known but little understood. Given also the country’s recent industrialization and the wider implications of this, the reader concerned with the problems of underdevelopment in the Caribbean will find much of interest in this book.
